Saxophone Player

I came across this great photograph of a saxophone player in front of a church like building. It inspired me to use it as a reference for a painting study using a fluid dynamics based painting software called “Verve” painter.
The original image was painted at a low resolution due to how the software works. But thanks to the advancements in AI technology, I upscaled the original image to a higher resolution with very high accuracy.
Bellow on the left is a looping Gif or the process timeline. Its a good example of blocking in simple color groups and outlines as a base and working up from there. A lot of adjustments and sculpting with the brush until eventually it gets there. Took about 11 hours to complete with a digital tablet. Final color adjustments made in photoshop.

Hope you have yourself a good day.
